Update from Sophie Hockley, Good Homes Alliance

This year, we will be building on the 2023 work of our Finance Working Group, which ran throughout 2023 as part of our Build Net Zero Now campaign, and culminated in the publication of the ‘10 Steps to Accelerate Net Zero Housing Development’ manifesto and Green Shift report. The manifesto will be developed further into a larger programme of work for the GHA as part of a new ‘think tank’. By focusing on investment in new homes, we aim to:

  • Provide leadership in green finance, sustainability and climate change.
  • Inspire ideas and action towards higher standards to reach net zero.
  • Explore how finance criteria could help to mitigate climate change.
  • Undertake future scanning and understand how finance needs to evolve.
  • Monitor, engage and collaborate with the work being done by other groups.

A brief introduction to this programme of work will be provided at the next GHA Networks meeting on 1st May, where you’ll have the opportunity to inform 3 or 4 priority areas for the rest of 2024 and to actively get involved.

If you are not a member of one of the GHA networks but have experience in finance or you would like to get involved in this programme of work, please do get in touch – we are keen to include a wide variety of members and industry partners.

Sponsorship opportunities: we’d also love to hear from you if your organisation might be interested in sponsoring some of this work.
