BEIS inquiry into energy efficiency
This inquiry by BEIS (The Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee) will examine whether the Government’s current delivery of energy efficiency improvements within residential, commercial and public-sector buildings is consistent with meeting targets set out in the Clean Growth Strategy, and our fourth and fifth carbon budgets. This inquiry is also likely to focus on action to upgrade the energy efficiency of fuel-poor homes and the Government’s work to drive demand for energy efficiency measures within able to pay households. Discussion Notes – GHA 2019 Policy Workshop
GHA held a policy workshop entitled ‘Tomorrow’s Housing: Are Current Regulations Fit for Purpose?’ on Thursday 24th January at Winckworth Sherwood, London. The event, chaired by Good Homes Alliance Network and Programme Manager Julian Brooks, attracted over 35 delegates including specialists from the following sectors; building consultancy, new-build and retrofit development, supply chain, architecture, urban design, academia, NGOs, trade and professional associations. GHA overheating project workshop in Bristol, Monday 25th February
The Good Homes Alliance are running a project to develop guidance for local authorities on how to assess and mitigate overheating risk in new residential development (https://goodhomes.org.uk/research/early-stage-overheating-guidance). Following background research and surveys with local authorities and designers, the project is now in its final stages, aiming for completion in early March. Our research consultants Susie Diamond (Inkling LLP) and Julie Godefroy (Julie Godefroy Sustainability Ltd) have developed a pilot tool and guidance, and will be holding a workshop to test it on Monday 25th February, 2-5pm at the Arnolfini in Bristol (https://www.arnolfini.org.uk). DEADLINE EXTENDED – Survey: Early stage guidance on overheating
Thank you to all those who completed our short overheating guidance survey. We’ve had some great feedback with over 180 responses and have decided to extend the deadline for further responses until 5pm on 12th January 2019. The research team are particularly interested to hear from local authority planning teams. The project is now entering the 2nd phase and the research team will soon be testing the new guidance.
