Change at the top

After a dedicated 10 years as our Chair, Lynne Sullivan OBE has stepped down and is replaced by Dr Tom Dollard. We’d like to thank Lynne on behalf of the board and members for her dedication and drive at the GHA and wish her all the best in her ongoing roles at our sister organisations – Chair of the National Retrofit Hub and Board Member of the Passivhaus Trust.

Welcoming new GHA Board Members
We are delighted to announce 3 new board members, Dr Elanor Warwick, Rafe Bertram and Professor David Glew.

Elanor Warwick - Head of Strategy, Policy, Evidence and Research, Clarion Housing Group
Dr Elanor Warwick career’s spans architecture, urban design, academic and operational research, aiming to shape national policy and embed good practice. She is Head of Strategic Policy and Research for Clarion Housing Group, one of England’s largest Housing Associations. Previously Head of Research at CABE, she managing a diverse research programme across all sectors of the built environment and design process. Her research interests and publications cover estate regeneration, housing quality, new towns, Lifetime Neighbourhoods and measuring intangibles such as design, wellbeing and social value. She is a postgrad supervisor at UCL and Cambridge University, currently teaching housing to planners.

Rafe Bertram - Built Environment Sustainability Lead, Enfield Council
Rafe Bertram’s role at Enfield Council is Council Housing Energy Efficiency and Retrofit manager across 10,000 Enfield Council Homes, and coordinating Enfield’s sustainable infrastructure, such as heat networks. His work aims to achieve the targets of the Council’s Climate Action Plan, to be climate neutral as an organisation by 2030 and as a whole borough by 2040. He is a Retrofit Coordinator, a Public Practice Alumni, a panel member of Design South East, founding director of Retrofit Kentish Town and works with the Good Homes Alliance on Environmental Economics. He is an Architect and previously a partner at Foster+Partners.

Professor David Glew - Director, Leeds Sustainability Institute at Leeds Beckett University
Professor David Glew is the Director of the Leeds Sustainability Institute (LSI) at Leeds Beckett University and Head of Energy Efficiency and Policy.
David is an expert in building performance evaluation and how it can be used to assess the success if retrofits and low carbon homes. He has a wide range of experience working with policymakers and government to translate his research findings into actions that can be used to shape policy.
David is a regular contributor to national and local TV and radio discussions around energy efficiency in the home and retrofit related news. He contributes to Industry networks, Select Committee inquiries, All Party Parliamentary Groups and is on Ofgem’s Technical Advisory Panel for Innovation in Energy Company Obligation (ECO).
