Overheating

The Good Homes Alliance is at the forefront of helping the housing sector respond to the growing challenge of overheating in homes. Through its extensive programme of research, guidance and practical tools, GHA supports developers, housing providers, local authorities and design teams in creating climate-resilient homes that remain comfortable as temperatures rise.

Its suite of overheating resources includes free-to-download guides and assessment tools designed to help identify and mitigate overheating risks in both new-build and retrofit projects, with a focus on practical, early-stage design decisions. Alonside this a complementary ‘Shading for Housing: Design Guide for a Changing Climate’ has been developed, with a second guide titled ‘Designing out overheating: Best practice modelling of external shading‘ coming soon
