Daylight and wellbeing for better homes – curated by the Good Homes Alliance with support from VELUX GB & Ireland
Tuesday 12th May 2026, 13:15 – 14:00, Buildings and Materials Stage
Organised by the Good Homes Alliance and chaired by Neil Freshwater, Public Affairs Lead of VELUX GB & Ireland, this seminar will explore how good daylight design can deliver better outcomes for residents and housing providers alike. Using insights from high-quality housing projects and research, the session will examine the role of daylight in supporting health, wellbeing and comfort, while also helping to reduce energy use and operational costs. The discussion will focus on practical design decisions, trade-offs and early-stage choices that influence daylight quality, and how housing providers, designers and engineers can work together to create homes that are healthier, more liveable and more resilient over the long term.

Homes that deliver for residents – curated by the Good Homes Alliance
Tuesday 12th May 2026, 14:15 – 15:00, Buildings and Materials Stage
Organised by the Good Homes Alliance and chaired by GHA Programme Director Laura Broderick, this seminar will explore what it means in practice for homes to truly deliver for residents. Baily Garner, a multidisciplinary practice working across architecture, building surveying and housing consultancy, will share lessons from designing and delivering homes that prioritise long-term performance and resident outcomes. Peabody (tbc), one of the UK’s leading social housing providers, will offer the client and landlord perspective. Sem Lee from OURI Labs will bring insights from co-design and Post Occupancy Evaluation (POE) with residents. The session will examine how decisions made during briefing, delivery and handover shape lived experience, and how the sector can move beyond compliance to create homes that genuinely work for the people who live in them.
