Date: Wednesday 9th June Time: 10:00-11:30 Location: Online (Zoom)

Summary

Join Good Homes Alliance, BEIS and the Building for 2050 project team for an online focus group workshop, open to members of the GHA’s Vanguard Network (local authorities) and Pathfinder Network (housing associations). The workshop provides an opportunity for attendees to input into an important Government research project and help shape future policy for low carbon/net zero carbon housing.

About the Building for 2050 project

Building for 2050, funded by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), highlights the need to construct housing which is low carbon through its design rather than through reliance on technology. The project is examining the drivers, attitudes, barriers and challenges relating to low cost, low carbon new build housing in England & Wales.

The research includes a design review and site assessment of case study housing projects, and interviews/workshops with project teams, residents and wider stakeholders. It then reviews the as-built performance of the homes and residents’ experiences.

The outcomes will inform the steps required to accelerate the uptake of low-cost low carbon homes in England & Wales.

About the workshop

This facilitated workshop provides an opportunity for stakeholders to feed into the Building for 2050 project on their experiences of delivering low carbon housing. The findings of the workshop will feed into the wider observations of the project, culminating into a final report submitted to BEIS in Q1 2022 which will help to shape future policy.
