The Good Homes Alliance (GHA) was delighted to support this year’s Housing Design Awards, recognising outstanding achievements in housing design across the UK.
Earlier this year, GHA announced its partnership with the Housing Design Awards, helping to strengthen the awards’ focus on climate resilience, building performance and long-term building quality. As part of this collaboration, GHA Chair Dr Tom Dollard joined the judging panel, bringing his expertise in sustainable and climate-responsive housing design.
We were especially pleased to see GHA members among this year’s cohort, with 4 winning projects!
Metropolitan Workshop achieved an impressive three awards for projects that demonstrate high-quality, sustainable housing across a range of contexts.
Blackwall Reach in Tower Hamlets delivers 268 mixed-tenure homes as part of a major estate regeneration programme, combining high-density development with strong environmental performance, extensive green infrastructure and 95% dual-aspect homes.
Their award-winning Farmstead Road scheme in Lewisham provides 24 affordable and shared ownership homes designed to Passivhaus Low Energy Building Standard principles, creating comfortable, low-energy family homes inspired by the area’s historic Arts and Crafts character.
Metropolitan Workshop was also recognised for Kings Road, Tottenham, an innovative council-led development that transforms an underused car park into nine family homes for social rent. The scheme has been designed around Passivhaus principles and showcases low-carbon materials, renewable energy and thoughtful responses to overheating and climate resilience – also key areas of the GHA’s work.
Levitt Bernstein also received an award for Melfield Gardens in Lewisham, an inspiring intergenerational housing development created with Phoenix Community Housing. The scheme brings together older residents and postgraduate students in a supportive community, pairing innovative social design with Passivhaus-certified, ultra-low-energy homes that promote wellbeing, affordability and long-term sustainability.
GHA’s Programme Director, Laura Broderick, and GHA Chair Dr Tom Dollard attended the awards ceremony and were delighted to celebrate the achievements of members helping to raise standards across the housing sector.

It was great to see the cross-sector work behind the projects, as well as hear success stories from residents living in the homes. Well done to all – especially our member winners!”
We would also like to recognise the GHA members whose excellent projects were shortlisted this year, including Child Graddon Lewis, Howells, HTA Design, Pollard Thomas Edwards, PRP, and Studio Partington. Their inclusion on the shortlist reflects GHA members’ commitment to low-energy housing, building performance and climate-responsive design.
