The Mackintosh Environmental Architecture Research Unit (MEARU) has been in operation for over 20 years and has an established track record of high quality research in environmental architecture. MEARU has a long history of working with user groups in relation to housing, but its remit now includes all aspects of construction, low energy design, sustainability and and building performance evaluation. The unit has undertaken over £3m funded research in the past 6 years, including funding grants from research councils (EPSRC £522k, AHRC £52k), Industry bodies (TSB, £470k, KTP £450k, EU/ERDF £140k, and HA’s and local councils £150k).
